Upgrading a New-Gen Mitsubishi Triton for Fleet and Mine-Spec Work
Recently, we had the opportunity to transform a New-Gen Mitsubishi Triton into a fleet and mine-spec-ready workhorse. This project involved installing a range of high-quality accessories designed to enhance the vehicle's durability, safety, and functionality for tough working environments. Here’s a breakdown of the upgrades we completed and how they equip the Triton for the demands of fleet and mining operations.
1. IRONMAN 4X4 Deluxe Bull Bar
The first major addition to the Triton was the IRONMAN 4X4 Deluxe Bull Bar. Known for its durability, this bull bar provides critical front-end protection, especially in high-risk areas like mine sites. It's not just about defense; this bull bar is built to accommodate extra gear, including lighting and antennas, making it both a functional and protective upgrade.
2. IRONMAN 4X4 7" LED Scope Lights
Next, we enhanced visibility with a set of IRONMAN 4X4 7" LED Scope Lights. These powerful lights ensure that the vehicle can operate safely in low-light or nighttime conditions—an absolute necessity in mining environments. With their tough construction, these lights are ready to handle the rigors of heavy-duty work, providing reliable performance when it's needed most.
3. Ionnic Mine Bar w/ LED Beacon & Reverse Beeper + Deutsch Connector
Safety was a key focus for this build, so we installed the Ionnic Mine Bar equipped with an LED beacon and reverse beeper. This setup significantly improves vehicle visibility, making it easier for other workers and vehicles to spot the Triton on a busy or hazardous site. The reverse beeper ensures that people are aware of vehicle movements, adding another layer of safety. The Deutsch Connector provides a reliable, weatherproof connection, perfect for harsh environments.
4. 40a Anderson Plug Mounted into the Tub
To make this Triton even more versatile, we mounted a 40a Anderson Plug into the tub. This allows for easy access to power, whether it's for running tools, charging auxiliary batteries, or connecting external equipment. It’s a simple but essential addition that increases the vehicle's functionality on the job.
5. Lockable Battery Isolator & 175a Jump Start Anderson Plug (Mounted in Engine Bay)
We also fitted a lockable battery isolator and a 175a jump-start Anderson plug in the engine bay. The isolator ensures the vehicle’s electrical system is secure, protecting against tampering or accidental battery drain. The jump-start plug is a practical feature, offering a quick and efficient way to jump-start the vehicle in case of battery failure—an important capability in remote or demanding environments.
6. Uniden UHF UH6160 Remote Handpiece w/ AT780 Antenna
For communication, we installed the Uniden UHF UH6160 radio with a remote handpiece, paired with the robust AT780 antenna. Reliable communication is critical on mine sites and during fleet operations, and this setup provides clear, uninterrupted transmission. Whether coordinating tasks across long distances or staying connected with team members, this radio system ensures smooth and efficient communication.
This upgrade project for the New-Gen Mitsubishi Triton showcases how we can outfit vehicles to meet the rigorous demands of fleet and mining work. With enhanced safety, visibility, communication, and utility, this Triton is now fully equipped to perform in some of the toughest environments.
